Logistics software
Schütz and inconso continue their collaboration
Schütz, a leading international manufacturer of transport packaging systems, is driving forward the expansion of its logistics network at several locations. The focus is on the introduction of SAP EWM, SAP EWM MFS and SAPUI5. Schütz relies on its long-standing cooperation with the software specialist inconso.
The history of the now globally active group of companies with its headquarters in Selters began around six decades ago with the production of heating oil storage tanks. Today, Schütz is one of the world's leading manufacturers of packaging in the largest and highest-selling of its four segments alone. First and foremost: the so-called Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC), a plastic tank with a lattice construction that revolutionized the transport of liquid and free-flowing substances when it was launched in 1975. Steady growth is at the top of the packaging specialist's agenda. This is ensured by a global network of 50 production sites around the world, which guarantees a high level of delivery reliability and customer proximity. In addition to a continuously growing number of production facilities, the company is also focusing on modernizing existing plants and warehouses.
Ready for a new solution
The packaging specialist has comprehensively modernized its existing logistics both at the company headquarters in Selters and in Montlingen, Switzerland. The new logistics center in Selters (Westerwald) was completed in 2017. The Schütz site in Montlingen, Switzerland, followed at the beginning of 2018. At both locations, Schütz is focusing on efficient logistics processes and continuing its long-standing collaboration with software specialist inconso.
Roll-out in Montlingen
The introduction of the SAP EWM (Extended Warehouse Management) warehouse management system was the focus of the latest project, which involved the commissioning of the new logistics center at the Montlingen site in the canton of St. Gallen. In addition, trouble-free operation of the existing plant in Selters had to be ensured during the implementation phase. inconso AG was involved in this project from the very beginning and scored points in Selters with a stable integration phase and a smoothly running "big bang". The new logistics center in Montlingen was equipped with an automatic high-bay warehouse with double-deep storage as well as automatic shipping lanes, which also have a direct connection to production. From an IT perspective, Schütz has implemented an efficient and future-proof logistics solution with an SAP-based landscape that ensures a high level of inventory and process transparency. In addition, modern dialogs for intuitive user guidance based on SAPUI5 were established in goods receipt, dispatch and production with the help of logistics software specialist inconso. Above all, Schütz has positioned itself for the future with comprehensive modernization measures. Because the fact is: Nowadays, it is less and less just a matter of storing, retrieving and delivering goods.
