Warehouse optimization using AI

Marvin Meyke,

Sartorius relies on software from Remira

In future, Sartorius Werkzeuge from Ratingen will use the Remira Logomate inventory management software to control its materials planning. The aim is to save working time, optimize stock values and avoid delivery bottlenecks. Campaign planning is also to be improved.

Sartorius Werkzeuge, a Würth Group company, is a supplier of precision tools and industrial supplies for metalworking and metal processing. The catalog range of the Ratingen-based wholesaler comprises around 47,000 items. These must be available for immediate delivery when required. Over 400,000 items are listed in the overall Sartorius Werkzeuge program.

Recognize goods requirements earlier with AI

To ensure that the requested products are always available quickly, a great deal of manual scheduling effort was previously required. With the introduction of the AI-based Logomate software, this should be significantly reduced, explains Purchasing Manager Torge Franke. "We want to save working time and optimize our inventory management. Ideally, all items that are in regular demand will be in stock in the optimum quantity in future." Two dispatchers are currently gaining experience with the inventory management software. If the trial phase is successful, all of the company's purchasers will work with Logomate. Up to now, the planning at Sartorius Werkzeuge has largely been done manually. As a rule, it is only possible to react to cyclical fluctuations in demand with a delay.

With Logomate, the company aims to identify goods requirements earlier and adjust stocks accordingly in order to avoid supply bottlenecks. In addition, procurement times are to be optimized through more accurate and earlier forecasts. To achieve these goals, the software will also automatically control the transfer of goods between the various warehouses. A particular challenge in this context is the optimization of several hundred customer warehouses, which were previously managed manually.

The "Logotmate promo+" campaign module is designed to make campaigns even easier to plan: The software automatically forecasts the expected additional demand resulting from a promotion. The tool also provides reliable sales forecasts when new products are introduced with a promotion. In these cases, comparative data from similar articles is used for the calculation. This enables Sartorius to launch and promote its products more strategically. "I am convinced that Logomate will help to significantly increase the efficiency of scheduling and warehouse processes and help the company to offer its customers an even better service," concludes Torge Franke.
