New warehouse management system implemented quickly and smoothly at Cella

With the new warehouse in Meppen, the family-run logistics company Cella is continuing its expansion strategy and managing the entire goods cycle for its e-commerce customers from there. In just two weeks, the warehouse management system was successfully implemented at the new 30,000 square meter logistics center and smoothly put into operation.

Since July 2023, the multi-user warehouse has been receiving, storing, picking and distributing goods and shipping them all over the world. Cella worked closely with Common Solutions, a provider of IT solutions, to implement the ambitious new construction project. The IT company implemented the Storelogix warehouse management system in two weeks, enabling Cella to start operations in Meppen seamlessly.

Warehouse logistics service provider Cella, headquartered in Emsbüren, has expanded its presence since summer 2023 and is now also represented in Meppen. The new location for e-commerce is spread over an area of around 70,000 square meters in three warehouse bays with an office complex. The decision in favor of the new warehouse location was influenced by two decisive factors, as Nico Brüggemann, Managing Director of Cella, explains: "Our customer base is growing rapidly, which increases the need for additional warehouse space. We naturally want to make this space available to our existing and potential new customers and thus further expand our services." He also adds that this expansion means a warehouse consolidation for Cella, as the new logistics center will allow the customer base to expand from the Ruhr area to the Netherlands and the far north. A top location compared to the competition.

Convincing flexibility and user-friendliness

Storelogix has already proven itself as a partner for Cella in the past and successfully supported the company with warehouse management at its Emsbüren site. In addition to the scalability and performance of the WMS, it was crucial for Cella that the system could be set up quickly, especially for customers. "The satisfaction of our customers was decisive for the decision to also use Storelogix in our new logistics center in Meppen. Our existing customers have been working with the warehouse software for many years and are impressed by its flexibility and user-friendliness. The decision was therefore quickly made for us to also rely on the WMS at our new location," explains Nico Brüggemann.

Simple commissioning within a short time

The implementation of Storelogix was supervised on the Common Solutions side by Customer Process Manager Maurice Krings, who praises the professional and trusting cooperation between the two project partners. "This was the only way to successfully implement Cella's project within the tight schedule," emphasizes Krings and points out: "Since the go-live at the end of June had to be met at all costs, the demands on the Storelogix team and also on the Cella project team were correspondingly high. However, as we are a well-coordinated team, we were able to achieve this without any problems." The seamless integration of the WMS into the new warehouse was extremely successful and testifies to the flexibility and performance of the system. Within just two weeks, Storelogix was fully implemented and ready for productive use at Cella.

Digitalization for improved efficiency

The use of the Storelogix WMS enables more transparent logistics processes and improved customer service. According to their own statements, both partners attach great importance to intelligent and future-proof intralogistics solutions in order to offer their customers optimum warehouse and transport management. For this reason, Cella has now also implemented Storelogix EvoScan in its warehouses in Emsbüren and Meppen in order to make processes from goods receipt and picking to shipping and returns processing more agile and efficient. "Storelogix EvoScan was designed as a further development of the existing mobile processes in order to improve performance, ergonomics and user experience in intralogistics processes and to increase customer satisfaction," explains Pierre Rossow, Head of Customer Process Management at Common Solutions and project manager for Storelogix EvoScan. The mobile application enables the seamless and precise recording of real-time data - from goods receipt to delivery and returns processing. The software can also be used on mobile devices such as tablets or handheld scanners, which increases the flexibility and mobility of employees in the warehouse. "EvoScan was ready for use immediately and could be used by the warehouse staff straight away. The system guides you step-by-step through the entire warehouse process, so we didn't need any extensive training or anything like that. This not only saved us a lot of time, but also made our working methods much more efficient," says Jennifer Fleege, Site Manager Meppen at Cella.

Further growth planned

Cella's vision and the joint growth course with Storelogix are geared towards the continuous developments in online retail and e-commerce. In this dynamic industry, growth, customer centricity and fast deliveries remain the focus. Cella is therefore planning to open additional logistics locations in order to counteract supply bottlenecks and offer new and existing customers sufficient storage capacity so that a full range of services can be provided.
