project44 revises Movement platform

project44, a platform for supply chain visibility, is updating its Movement platform with two new features: Firstly, there is an update for transparency and real-time tracking in crisis situations. The other new feature is Detention & Demurrage (D&D) optimization. This allows risks and D&D costs incurred to be tracked in real time and costs to be reduced through rapid adjustment within the supply chain.

project44 processes 10 billion data points every month. These are now made available to customers on the Movement platform. This makes it possible to track all shipments that are located in a crisis area on a map. This visualization makes it easy to see where action needs to be taken.

Better overview thanks to AI-supported views

Users receive a new, customized start view. Only the consignments affected by a specific event in the supply chain are displayed. The map can also be used to get a holistic overview of all shipments. Customers of project44 benefit from AI-supported views of the affected areas. Thanks to an intuitive overview, the impact can be understood immediately and measures can be taken quickly. While such processes took several days in the past, a response is now possible within a few hours.

The most important innovations in the Movement platform:

  • Forwarding relevant information to important stakeholders.
  • Enlarge the map to obtain detailed information about the location of individual consignments. A detailed view for additional information is available.
  • List view of all shipments to perform further analysis and decide where action is needed.

Detention & demurrage optimization

"Detention & demurrage costs can run into the millions every year. We have made it our mission to support our customers along the entire supply chain and reduce these costs," says AJ Willhoit, Chief Product Officer at project44. "Through D&D optimization within our Movement platform, our customers gain a better understanding of their supply chain operations. Based on this data, they are able to reduce D&D costs." Project44 has already saved its customers USD 150 million in detention and demurrage costs.

Customers receive precise cost information and status data on their freight. This helps them to find out which containers could incur charges and to act accordingly. In addition, charges for in-transit shipments can be minimized.

The most important innovations in the Movement platform:

  • Cost calculation for detention & demurrage, based on individual contracts between customers, their terminals and the shipping companies.
  • D&D dashboard with historical and real-time data to identify risk areas and trends over time.
  • Preparation of terminal-specific data points, including the last free demurrage day, carrier holds, locations and much more.
