Yardage control
Innovative planning solution for plant logistics
A new application from Leogistics facilitates the execution of transport orders on the factory and production sites of industrial companies.
Optimum yard control is the topic of the moment. For many companies, it is a challenge to maintain an overview of highly dynamic and increasingly complex plant logistics and production processes and to be in control at all times. As a specialist in supply chain management, leogistics GmbH has dedicated itself to this topic in conjunction with warehouse and transport processes as the linchpin for the entire supply chain planning - digital, global and scalable. The Hamburg-based logistics experts have now developed a new planning solution specifically for their customers.
Leo-Plan is designed to optimize the execution of transport orders on factory, plant and production sites of industrial companies as well as related processes in the area of trailer and swap body management. Integrated planning of complex logistics processes - that is the guiding principle of the new service.
"Good planning is half the battle for efficient yard logistics. Acting instead of improvising - that must be the goal of companies. We support them with state-of-the-art technology. Leoplan facilitates the planning of orders and complex order chains. The solution constantly compares the planned capacity requirements with the available capacities. With Leoplan, plan and real time can be compared in real time. In future, companies will no longer be able to do without this tool if they want to be proactive in the yard and simply process goods optimally within the plant," explains Christiaan Carstens, Member of the Management Board at Leogistics.
Integrated capacity management
The new solution provides integrated capacity management that supports the deployment of the right drivers, the right tractor units, the right forklifts, the right trailers in sufficient numbers and the necessary resources at the required time. Leoplan also includes the mapping of shift schedules through integration with HR/HCM systems, rolling planning adjustment based on real-time information, continuous identification of potential planning conflicts and system-generated proposals for solutions.
The solution also offers the automatic scheduling of transport/work orders, the assignment of orders to the respective executing resources such as transport vehicles, tractor units or forklifts, the digital processing of transport, work and yard orders, the real-time-based processing of planned orders, the use of mobile apps for work orders, as well as continuous monitoring of performance with plan/actual deviations and other configurable KPIs.
Used in the chemical industry, car production, ports and steelworks
Last but not least, Leoplan is another important step towards green logistics, i.e. towards optimal utilization of existing capacities andCO2 reduction. "The aim must be to transport more with existing capacities and avoid unnecessary transportation and empty runs. Our solution supports companies in this with new, revolutionary approaches," explains Carstens.
The solution has a wide range of applications. Leoplan can be used wherever goods are transported within production plants, ports or terminals and work orders or order chains are carried out. The solution is particularly suitable for chemical producers with so-called pre-loading concepts, for example, or for automotive plants where a finished vehicle has to be transported from the pick-up point to the car loading area. The solution is also used in aircraft construction, where production parts often have to be transported to the production site, or in large steelworks where, for example, the disposal of production and the transport of steel strips and sheets to the storage areas have to be organized. Last but not least, Leoplan is of interest to retailers and their warehouses, where the aim is to ensure a highly synchronized and absolutely smooth supply to stores throughout the country or even Europe.
