Automated detection

Martin Schrüfer,

New wireless laser sensors for recording material inventories

The steute "Wireless" division is further expanding its range of wireless network components. The main areas of use include applications in intralogistics, particularly in mobile internal material supply. The automated detection and recording of load carriers plays an important role here.

The new RF 96 SDS-NET wireless laser sensor is used in industrial laser displacement measurement. The sensor has a compact design and an integrated sWave.NET radio module. This enables quick mounting and integration into the sWave.NET radio system.

The sensor is suitable for a wide range of applications, e.g. the monitoring of larger containers (GLT) and small load carriers (KLT) as well as for the detection of small parts containers in the eKanban rack. It is also possible to detect dolly transport trolleys in the monorail system. In each of these cases, the laser sensors automatically detect the stock, pass on the corresponding information via the nexy radio network and can thus initiate material replenishment. The distance is determined by measuring the transit time of a light pulse ("time of flight"). The advantage of this measuring principle is that the switching point of the sensor is only slightly dependent on the color and material of the object. The distance to the object to be detected can be up to 50 cm.

With the help of these sensors, the user can realize complete material monitoring in production, assembly and/or warehouses - including mobile eKanban racks, AGV fleets, the "supermarkets" for material supply as well as dollies and tugger trains.
