Terminal automation at Khalifa Port

More efficiency for the maritime logistics chain

Paul Vahle has been awarded a major contract for the electrification and automation of container blocks in the new Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In the first phase, the provider of energy and data transmission solutions for mobile applications and expert in port automation is equipping 16 container blocks with automation systems and installing around 22 kilometers of U35 busbars. Vahle was awarded the contract by the CMA CGM Group, a French shipping and logistics company headquartered in Marseille.

The first phase of the electrification project will start in summer 2024. Vahle is also supplementing the system with interference-free SMGX (Slotted Microwave Guide Extreme) data communication for secure real-time transmission. The demand for port electrification and terminal automation has increased worldwide. Vahle's solutions aim to increase energy efficiency and reduce thecarbon footprint of port terminals.
