Holistic energy management

The Linde Energy Manager software from Linde Material Handling (MH) creates transparency about the entire energy supply situation in the company and enables forecasts for the future with the help of AI.

Avoiding electricity load peaks, saving energy costs and reducingCO2 emissions- that is the aim of the Linde Energy Manager application. The software gives users the opportunity to actively participate in the energy market and to organize energy purchasing in a systematic and structured way. Linde MH thus goes beyond its previous range of services and now acts as a holistic energy specialist. The consulting and project expertise will initially be offered in Germany and will gradually be rolled out in other countries.

Energy is a challenging topic. It starts with maintaining the company's energy supply at all times, continues with avoiding peak loads and saving electricity costs and extends to reducingCO2 emissions. Many companies are looking for adequate strategies to plan their energy requirements and consistently exploit optimization potential. The Linde Energy Manager uses the interfaces to existing energy management systems of the major suppliers, takes the collected data and supplements it with additional information in order to draw a comprehensive picture of energy consumption. This creates transparency and helps to optimize energy consumption.

Energy screening over six weeks

The so-called energy screening offered by Linde MH takes place over a period of six weeks and documents the individual energy consumption as well as feed-in from waste heat or PV systems in the customer company. Savings potential and opportunities toreduce CO2 emissions can then be identified, for example by reducing electricity load peaks using load management or the coordinated use of energy consumers and in-house energy sources.

The AI-supported software supplements existing series of figures with additional information such as weather data and evaluates patterns in the historical load profile data. This allows forecasts for the future to be calculated and successively refined. The Energy Manager uses the calculated forecasts to place a corresponding demand on the energy exchanges via the energy service provider or to offer or temporarily store self-generated surplus electricity. The software has already proved its worth in several Linde plants, where it has led to cost savings - according to the company, average savings of 20 percent have been achieved.
