Prof. Michael Henke receives honorary doctorate from Finland

The Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT, Finland, has awarded Prof. Michael Henke an honorary doctorate.

The Institute Director at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML and holder of the Chair of Corporate Logistics at the Technical University of Dortmund was honored on 28 May 2022 for his many years of cooperation and now bears the title Univ.-Prof. Dr. habil. Dr. h. c. Michael Henke.

For seven years, Prof. Michael Henke has been researching and teaching not only in Dortmund, but also in Finland: at LUT University in Lappeenranta, he is Adjunct Professor for Supply Chain Management at the School of Business and Management. The university has now awarded him an honorary doctorate for his many years of collaboration. On May 28, 2022, he was awarded an "Honorary Doctorate of Science in Economics and Business Administration".

Michael Henke began his career with a degree in brewing and beverage technology engineering at the Technical University of Munich. He then completed his doctorate and habilitation at the Faculty of Economics there. During and after his habilitation, he worked for the Supply Management Group SMG in St. Gallen. From 2007 to 2013, Michael Henke researched and taught as a professor at the EBS University of Business and Law in Wiesbaden and Oestrich-Winkel.

His research focuses primarily on the management of Industry 4.0 and the platform economy as well as purchasing and logistics. He has a particular focus on blockchain technology and smart contracts, financial supply chain management and supply chain risk management. Since September 2013, Henke has been Institute Director for Corporate Logistics at Fraunhofer IML and holds the Chair of Corporate Logistics at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at TU Dortmund University.
