Predecessor Grotemeier switches to teaching
Dr. Martin Schwemmer becomes Managing Director of the German Logistics Association
The new Managing Director of BVL will be Dr. Martin Schwemmer, currently Senior Consultant at the Fraunhofer Working Group for Supply Chain Services SCS at Fraunhofer IIS in Nuremberg.
Schwemmer completed his doctorate on the success of logistics start-ups. Since 2011, he has dedicated himself to established players as the author of the study series "The Top 100 in Logistics", which has become the standard work for describing and analyzing the logistics sector. Trends and innovations in supply chain management are also current research topics. In his role at Fraunhofer SCS, Schwemmer has already led various projects in the field of logistics market intelligence, is the author of various market and potential studies and determines market sizes, market potential and market trends for public and industrial clients. He is a member of the German logistics expert panel "Gipfel der Logistikweisen". Schwemmer will join BVL on February 15 as a member of the management board, which will continue to consist of Christoph Meyer and Mike J. Holtkamp.
The current BVL Managing Director Dr. Christian Grotemeier has been appointed to the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden, where he will become Professor of Mobility Management and Business Administration from April 1. The baton will be officially handed over at the Digital Logistics Days in March. Grotemeier has worked at BVL since 2014. He became Managing Director of the new BVL.digital GmbH at the end of 2018 and joined the BVL Management Board on April 1, 2021.
Dr. Martin Schwemmer: "Networks are there to be established and lived. I am delighted to have this opportunity to contribute to and shape BVL, the logistics network par excellence. I want to do this authentically and with a great deal of openness."
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Wimmer, Chairman of the BVL Executive Board: "With Martin Schwemmer, we have succeeded in bringing on board a proven logistics expert who has already made a name for himself in the community and has an excellent network. We regret the departure of Christian Grotemeier, who has brought BVL forward enormously in recent years. In particular, he has set many new accents through the development of BVL.digital and further developed the organization as a whole. However, we are delighted with his professorship and wish him every success."
