Dr. Melnikov has been Managing Director of the Waren-Verein der Hamburger Börse e.V. and Managing Director of its affiliated trade associations since 2014. Prior to this, Dr. Melnikov, who holds a doctorate in commercial criminal law and completed part of her legal training in Moscow, worked at the Federal Association of Wholesale, Foreign Trade and Services (BGA) in Berlin as Head of the Legal and Competition Department and Head of Agricultural Policy. Dr. Melnikov speaks German, English and Russian.

"A modern association must anticipate developments and think about the future. The result is clear added value through a knowledge advantage and a strong community of solidarity from which all members benefit. I look forward to working together in this direction," says Dr. Helena Melnikov, outlining her vision as she takes office.

Interim Managing Director Dr. Hans Jörg Eyrich will continue to be available to the BME and Dr. Melnikov for a transitional period. This will enable a smooth handover of the business and also ensure that ongoing projects are successfully handed over or completed in line with the association's objectives. The new Managing Director will introduce herself personally to the BME Federal Executive Board, the regions and the employees at the Eschborn office in the first few days of her term of office.
