Maritime economy: Jade-Dienst with new location in GVZ Wilhelmshaven

Wilhelmshaven, 07.03.2018 - Wilhelmshaven-based service company Jade-Dienst GmbH is investing in a new location in the Wilhelmshaven freight village in the immediate vicinity of the container terminal. A 1,000 m² warehouse and transshipment hall for containers as well as outdoor facilities with parking spaces will be built on an area of 1.1 hectares by August 2018.

As the sole concession holder for this area of JadeWeserPort, Jade-Dienst will offer mooring services at the container terminal, at the sea lock, in the inner harbor and at the unloading bridges directly from the new branch in the GVZ. In the second stage, the office building with the operations center as well as office and social rooms will be built by April 2019. Jade-Dienst signed the corresponding leasehold contract with Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven JadeWeserPort-Marketing GmbH & Co. KG on March 6 of this year. A further 2.4 hectares of space in the GVZ have been reserved. The investment volume for the construction of the new site, with which the company intends to expand its value chain in terms of storage, transportation and loading of goods as well as waste disposal services, amounts to around EUR 1.5 million. Lower Saxony's Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour, Transport and Digitalization, Dr. Bernd Althusmann, commented on the company's decision: "Jade-Dienst's choice of location in the freight village continues the excellent marketing of space at JadeWeserPort. The planned investment project also confirms what the growing handling figures and the increased interest of container line shipping companies in our deep-water port already express: JadeWeserPort is on a good course."

Founded in 1958, the port service provider is currently based in Wilhelmshaven's northern port, employs almost 120 people and maintains a fleet of working vessels consisting of small mooring boats, tugs, transport vehicles and pontoons. The "Marine Services" business area also remains at this location with the areas of boat traffic, floating crane deployment, pontoon provision, ship repair, tug assistance and ship management as well as supply and disposal services.

"We are very pleased with Jade-Dienst GmbH's decision to establish a second foothold in Wilhelmshaven by setting up the business premises at the GVZ site and thus complement the portfolio of maritime services at JadeWeserPort perfectly," says Andreas Bullwinkel, Managing Director of Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven JadeWeserPort-Marketing GmbH & Co. KG.
