New logistics center for Fiege

Fiege is planning a new logistics location on a 12.5 hectare site in Emmerich am Rhein. In the border region in the north-west of North Rhine-Westphalia, 64,000 square meters of logistics space will be created in two construction phases.

The first three halls, which together will measure around 32,000 square meters, are scheduled to go into operation in September 2019. A further 32,000 square meters are planned for the second construction phase. "We will submit the building application this month and hope to be able to start the first construction phase soon", says Jan Fiege, Managing Director Real Estate Development at Fiege.

Serving all sales channels
Fiege will operate at the location for customers from the consumer goods sector. However, the new location will have no impact on the Bocholt site, which will be retained. From the new location, the company intends to serve all sales channels for its customers and ship goods for stationary, mobile and online retail. The site has trimodal transport connections. For this reason, and also due to the size of the space, the location was of interest to several investors.

"In the end, we opted for the Fiege Group. As a traditional family business, Fiege enjoys a very good reputation in the logistics sector. We believe that the company will invest sustainably in Emmerich and further strengthen Emmerich as a logistics location through its local logistics activities", says Arndt Wilms (Managing Director of Erschließungsgesellschaft Emmerich am Rhein).
