Lauterach/Aldingen, 17.10.2016 - On October 13, Gebrüder Weiss celebrated the ground-breaking ceremony for a new logistics terminal at its southern German branch in Aldingen/Tuttlingen. The terminal will complement the existing transshipment hall at the site. "We have been offering logistics solutions since 2014 and customer demand is growing steadily," says Fabian Lubitz, Branch Manager at Gebrüder Weiss Aldingen, explaining the reasons for the site expansion. The investment volume of the expansion amounts to around three million euros.

Trend: Outsourcing warehouse logistics

A modern logistics terminal will be built on a total site area of around 30,000 square meters by spring 2017. The 3,000 square meter hall offers space for 2,500 additional pallet spaces as well as 1,500 square meters of block storage space for particularly bulky goods. "With the new storage space, we can respond even more individually to the needs of our customers. More and more companies want to outsource storage and concentrate fully on their production," says Lubitz. Customers mainly come from the automotive, mechanical engineering, electronics and electrical engineering sectors, as well as the food industry.

Germany-wide in 24 hours

The Swabian branch has been in existence since 2013 and is connected to the Gebrüder Weiss branches in Esslingen and Memmingen via direct transports. The transport expert delivers to all destinations in Germany within 24 hours via the general cargo cooperation Cargo-Trans-Logistik (CTL). Regular transports to Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy and the entire Eastern European region are also among the transport services provided by Gebrüder Weiss in Aldingen. The company currently employs around 60 people at the site and is planning to create further jobs due to the expansion of logistics. ms
