Takeover of the first series vehicle
DB Schenker receives Mercedes-Benz eActros for urban distribution transport
DB Schenker will be the first customer worldwide to take delivery of its battery-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros as a series vehicle on February 28. The global logistics services company is using the 19-ton truck to deliver general cargo in urban logistics.
DB Schenker can already make carbon dioxide-free general cargo deliveries at over 60 locations across Europe. With the eActros, DB Schenker is adding another vehicle model to its fleet and taking another important step towards climate-neutral logistics.
Wolfgang Janda, Executive Vice President, Head of Network & Line Haul Management at DB Schenker: "As a pioneer of innovative transport solutions with a Group-wide fleet of more than 30,000 vehicles, we at DB Schenker have set ourselves the goal of becoming the world's leading provider of green logistics. Our success is based not only on our reliable logistics services, but also on our social commitment and ecological solutions. This requires the right mix of vehicles with alternative drive systems. The lightweight FUSO eCanter from Daimler Truck has already proven its suitability for everyday use in various cities. Now we are curious to see how the eActros will perform. As the market leader for land transportation in Europe, we have a special responsibility to play a pioneering role here."
Karin Rådström, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler Truck Holding AG, responsible for the Europe and Latin America regions and the Mercedes-Benz Trucks brand, adds: "We are delighted that DB Schenker, as one of the leading companies in the logistics sector, is backing the Mercedes-Benz eActros. We worked closely with DB Schenker on the development of the eActros. As a result, feedback from operational practice has been incorporated directly into the series product and the associated service offerings. The eActros is a true Mercedes and the right vehicle for a new, sustainable era."
