Trade fair in Leipzig
Dangerous goods & hazardous substances at the start again
The next round of the Dangerous Goods & Hazardous Substances trade fair will take place at Leipziger Messe from April 9 to 11. The second edition of the European industry platform is proving very popular.
The premiere of Gefahrgut & Gefahrstoff in November 2017 already impressed both exhibitors and visitors. "The overall package - consisting of an attractive exhibition with a good cross-section of the industry, high-quality visitors and a practice-oriented specialist program - made the premiere of Gefahrgut & Gefahrstoff a success," says Markus Geisenberger, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe. "With the second edition, we are continuing to develop our trade fair in a targeted manner and will continue on our path to becoming the most important industry meeting place for dangerous goods and hazardous materials logistics."
From April 9 to 11, suppliers and users, logistics decision-makers and security managers will meet at Leipziger Messe for the second edition of the European industry platform. The number of registrations for rented exhibition space is already well above the final result for the trade fair premiere. Project Director Matthias Kober explains: "We are very satisfied with the number of registrations. In addition to the numerous returning exhibitors, we are delighted to welcome interesting new exhibitors in all product areas."
Market leaders and new exhibitors in all product areas
The exhibition will take place in April 2019 in Hall 2 at Leipziger Messe. Exhibitors will present a wide range of solutions, products and services for the transportation of hazardous goods, storage, in-house logistics of hazardous substances and maximum safety when handling highly sensitive goods and substances.
Market leaders are represented in all areas of the Dangerous Goods & Hazardous Substances trade fair - including Dachser, Finsterwalder and Rhenus & Hellmann (transport and logistics services), Becker Umweltdienste and REMONDIS Industrie Service (waste disposal), Dräger Safety and Stöbich Brandschutz (safety), asecos, DENIOS, Linde Material Handling and Protectoplus (intralogistics), AST Kunststoffverarbeitung, DOLAV, Söhner Kunststofftechnik and Schweizer Müller AG (packaging), Rainer Ladungssicherungstechnik and Zurrpack (load securing) as well as TÜV SÜD and TÜV Rheinland.
EASA assumes conceptual sponsorship of the trade fair
For the first time, the European Association of Dangerous Goods Safety Advisers (EASA) is supporting the Leipzig trade fair by assuming the conceptual sponsorship for the preparation and implementation of the trade fair. "We are delighted to have EASA as an international partner for Gefahrgut & Gefahrstoff at our side. The new cooperation confirms the high demand for a meeting point and communication platform for the industry in Europe," reports Managing Director Markus Geisenberger. "The cooperation with EASA is an important milestone in positioning the trade fair internationally and establishing it as the most important European meeting place for the industry."
As a step in this direction, the annual EASA General Assembly will be held during Gefahrgut & Gefahrstoff in Leipzig in 2019. This will significantly promote international visitor communication for the trade fair in the 20 member countries of the European umbrella organization. The association's commitment is rounded off by its own trade fair stand, where trade visitors can find out about EASA's tasks and functions and which also serves as a communication meeting point for the international trade audience.
The Dangerous Goods & Hazardous Substances trade fair offers visitors a wide range of exhibits and also impresses with its specialist program. Solution-oriented content with a clear focus on professional added value forms the basis of the various event formats, including certified training courses and further education seminars.
To promote exchange within the industry, the Open Forum in Hall 2, for example, invites visitors to attend lectures, product presentations, practical demonstrations and discussion panels. Experts will provide detailed insights into current topics in hazardous goods transport logistics, hazardous materials intralogistics and maximum safety for all processes.
New in the specialist program: "European Dangerous Goods Days"
The "European Dangerous Goods Days" on 10 and 11 April, which are being organized with the support of EASA, are a new addition to the trade fair's specialist programme. Renowned speakers from several European countries will present, among other things, the changes to the international regulations ADR, RID, IMDG Code and IATA DGR that will apply from 2019, discuss the transportation of lithium batteries and answer the question of what a dangerous goods officer needs to know about the transportation of explosive and radioactive goods.
The internationally renowned speakers will convey the status quo in their English-language presentations and also dare to look beyond the horizon. "The event gives dangerous goods safety advisors from all over Europe the opportunity to receive further training and establish an international network, but also to provide impetus for the further development of the regulations. The dangerous goods safety advisors are the guarantors of safety in the transportation of dangerous goods - and this is indivisible. Especially in the cross-border transport of dangerous goods, nothing works without cooperation," says Prof. Dr. Norbert Müller, Global Dangerous Goods Coordinator at Schenker AG and former President of EASA, who is responsible for the content of the "European Dangerous Goods Days".
For the forthcoming edition of Gefahrgut & Gefahrstoff, the waste and disposal segment is now included in the nomenclature as an important part of the logistics chain. The Hazardous Waste Disposal Forum, which is organized by bvse-recyconsult GmbH on behalf of the German Association for Secondary Raw Materials and Waste Management (bvse), will be celebrating its premiere. Among other things, the focus will be on the public trade fair forums "Material potentials of hazardous waste" on April 10 and "Handling hazardous substances" on April 11.
German Dangerous Goods Association with three lecture blocks
The German Dangerous Goods Association (GGVD) is participating in this year's specialist program with three lecture blocks. On April 9, the lecture block "ADR and GbV" is on the agenda. Among other things, the topics "Requirements for dangerous goods packaging" and "The dangerous goods officer today - tasks and how to deal with them" will be highlighted. The second block of lectures, entitled "RID and inland waterway vessels", will be held on April 10 and will cover, for example, the transportation of dangerous goods by inland waterway vessels and in tank wagons, tanks and wagons, as well as the Explosives Act in Germany. On the last day of the trade fair, participants can look forward to the third lecture block, "IMDG and IATA", which will include presentations such as "Dangerous goods check at the airport - defects and causes" or "Maintenance, repair and reconditioning (production) of combination IBCs".
