More logistics space in Rottenburg am Neckar
18,000 additional pallet spaces at Dachser
Dachser is further expanding its storage capacity for its customers with the construction of an additional warehouse in Rottenburg am Neckar. The building with a floor area of around 11,500 square meters in the Stuttgart region is expected to go into operation in August 2023.
The new warehouse is being built in the immediate vicinity of Dachser's Rottenburg branch in the Ergenzingen-Ost business park. The facility will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology and offer storage space for customers from various sectors, such as pharmaceuticals, food, electrical engineering, the chemical industry and consumer goods.
"By expanding our branch with the additional warehouse, we are responding to the great demand from the local economy for warehouse space and corresponding services as well as closely interlinked distribution in Germany and Europe. This will enable us to offer our existing customers in the region an extended range of services and also be a strategically important and future-oriented partner for new customers," said Marco Geiger, Branch Manager of Dachser in Rottenburg am Neckar, at the symbolic ground-breaking ceremony.
"In addition, we are creating further office space and extensive parking facilities will be built on the site to support operations and relieve pressure on the public road space. A photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof of the new building. We will use the electricity generated from this to power the newly constructed warehouse, among other things," Geiger continues.
18,000 new pallet spaces
The branch currently has a warehouse area of 34,400 square meters. After the expansion, the total area will be around 46,000 square meters. In addition to the existing 28,000 pallet spaces at the site, the new building will offer more than 18,000 additional storage spaces.
Part of the new facility can be refrigerated, which is of interest to companies in the food and pharmaceutical industries. The range of value-added services, such as special packaging, and the license for customs clearance contribute to the flexibility of logistics services in Rottenburg. With its connection to Dachser's European overland transport network, especially via the A81 highway in the immediate vicinity, the location facilitates rapid and comprehensive distribution of stored goods throughout Europe.
"By closely integrating warehousing, value-added services and transportation, we offer our customers logistics solutions from a single source," explains Thomas Klare, Head of Corporate Contract Logistics at Dachser. "By expanding its contract logistics capacities, Dachser is positioning itself for the future in Rottenburg."
Dachser has been represented in Rottenburg since 1999 and employs around 250 people. Each year, the branch moves 681,900 shipments weighing 347,000 tons for customers from the industrial and consumer goods sectors. The new facility will initially create 35 to 40 additional jobs.
