materialfluss: Does the topic of green logistics still "pull" in discussions with customers? What should logistics managers and those responsible for logistics pay particular attention to in this area?

Magnor: Successful logistics does not work without climate-friendly concepts. As a logistics service provider, we have a special responsibility. We have been committed to climate protection for many years. In 2020, we became the first logistics service provider in Germany to set a scientifically recognized climate protection target. In 2021, we succeeded in reducing our absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 13.1%. By 2030, we want to reduce our emissions by 30 percent compared to 2018. Our customers appreciate this. They benefit from our experience and our measures to reduce emissions. Not least in order to achieve their own climate protection targets. It is important that environmental and social aspects are taken into account from the outset alongside operational aspects.

mfl: Which of your company's products or services comes to mind first when you think of green logistics?

Magnor: The C3 in Bremen. The property sets new standards in terms of ecology and furnishings. It is a flagship project in terms of sustainability. The basis for the planning and construction of the 82,500 square meter logistics center is a holistic climate protection concept. For example, the building will have the largest contiguous rooftop photovoltaic system in Germany. We are aiming for platinum certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and a so-called Well-Gold certificate for the logistics property.
