New tracking software for production

The new solution from Trumpf Tracking Technologies localizes all objects whose markers are compatible with the open industry standard "omlox".

The Trumpf subsidiary "Trumpf Tracking Technologies", founded in 2021, launched a new solution portfolio for real-time localization for digitally networked production in the summer. The Coriva Engine software is the only technology in the world that can locate all systems that are compatible with the open localization standard "omlox". "With Coriva, users can track their entire production in real time without having to invest in a new IT infrastructure. This ensures efficiency gains along the entire process chain," says Chief Customer Officer Daniel Bossert.

Real-time tracking

Users who want to use Coriva equip their halls with intelligent satellites. They also install digital markers, so-called "tags", on the objects they want to track in production. These include, for example, orders, material, pallets, containers, transport trolleys, forklifts, driverless transport systems, tools, transport trolleys or drones. The tags are able to send their live location to the satellites every 125 milliseconds. Using an algorithm, the software can determine the position data of all tagged objects and digitally map production in real time. The special thing about Coriva is that the software can also locate tags from other manufacturers. All they have to do is be compatible with the open industry standard omlox. Trumpf Tracking Technologies relies on ultra-wideband technology (UWB) for Coriva. This is ideal for tracking objects precisely and robustly in industrial environments with metallic surroundings.

Less search time, more efficiency

Coriva is suitable for any company that wants to use digitalization to manufacture more efficiently. The potential is particularly high for companies that manufacture products with a high number of variants in small quantities and are still in the early stages of automation, says Bossert. Several customers are already using the solution in their production. Trumpf Tracking Technologies has been able to demonstrate that the investment in Coriva pays for itself in as little as one year. For example, search times can be greatly reduced with the solution and orders can be automatically booked in the production process.

Thanks to the standardized omlox interfaces, Coriva can be combined with software applications from different manufacturers, such as value stream analysis or Manufacturing Executive Systems (MES).
