By digitizing the delivery processes with the electronic proof-of-delivery (POD) solution Zetes-Chronos, the wholesale company is able to track all process flows and ensure a continuous cold chain to protect its sensitive medicines.

Nomeco delivers pharmaceuticals to pharmacies throughout Denmark. From its three distribution centers, the company makes a large number of deliveries every day with its fleet of 45 vehicles. Previously, the entire delivery process was managed using a legacy system with limited functionality. With the new ePOD and Track & Trace system, Nomeco will be able to control and optimize the entire process from the first to the last mile - from loading the delivery vehicle and optimizing routes to delivery at the destination, the process can then be managed with complete transparency. Zetes-Chronos provides real-time information on the movement of goods and the drivers responsible for the delivery.

This ensures traceability throughout the entire process. Drivers can obtain electronic signatures, create photo evidence of deliveries and communicate directly with all parties involved. In the back office, dispatchers have access to real-time updates on deliveries. They can use this data to fully monitor the order status and provide information and make decisions in the event of queries or deviations. The system also enables condition monitoring and automatically alerts drivers to the correct transportation temperature for each parcel. Throughout the delivery process, the system records all data and issues warnings just before the critical temperature is exceeded. This allows intervention at any time to ensure a continuous cold chain for Nomeco and thus prevent quality losses and rejects.

For sustainable logistics, it is essential to reduce the number of deliveries. This not only optimizes delivery costs, but also reduces the environmental impact. Zetes-Chronos includes many features, such as dynamic management of unscheduled collections and deliveries, and can also incorporate reverse logistics into the delivery process. This saves time and reduces empty runs and pollutant emissions to a minimum. "We expect to be able to reduce the number of additional trips between pharmacies and distribution centers to a minimum," adds Hansen.
