Integration at Toyota

PohlCon and Wiferion enter into long-term cooperation

Following successful joint projects, PohlCon, a supplier of cable support, underfloor and load protection systems, has agreed an exclusive partnership with the Freiburg-based technology company Wiferion. This was sealed at the light+building trade fair in Frankfurt with the joint signing of a cooperation agreement.

Back in 2021, PohlCon launched the Wireless Charging Protection System (WCPS), a suitable floor installation solution for the etaLINK inductive charging system from Wiferion. Since then, numerous joint projects have been successfully completed. The two companies are now intensifying their collaboration with a strategic technology partnership in order to combine their expertise in industrial contactless power supply.

In future, the two companies will focus exclusively on joint solutions for projects that require the flush integration of charging solutions. They are also pooling their sales and marketing activities in the field of wireless charging and intend to jointly develop new charging solutions for automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).

In-process charging at Toyota Material Handling

The advantages offered by the combination of inductive charging technology and charging infrastructure can be seen at the Toyota Material Handling plant in Mjölby. Toyota produces forklift trucks of various sizes here, which were previously transported manually on mobile assembly work platforms from one station to the next. These have now been automated by driverless transport systems (AGVs) from the manufacturer EA Mobile Robotics. Thanks to the combination of WCPS and etaLINK, the AGVs load directly at the workstations during the specified downtimes while the forklift components are being assembled. In contrast to other loading technologies, the WCPS as an in-floor solution offers maximum work and process safety with full loading efficiency without losses. Toyota saves space for separate loading zones and at the same time prevents inefficient extra loading times for its AGVs.
