Modernization
Save space with the right operator
In the food, beverage and packaging industries, space for conveyor systems is often at a premium. A Swedish machine manufacturer uses the advantages of drive technology from Nord Drivesystems to realize a compact design with reduced drive variants in the construction of chain conveyors.
As a system supplier with an international presence, Nord offers customized drive solutions for all stages of the packaging process. Fredriksons, a manufacturer of conveyor systems for the food and beverage industry, benefits not only from the space-saving design, the different speed levels and the integrated multi-protocol Ethernet interface of the Nord drives, but also from the possibility of reducing the number of variants - both for decentralized and control cabinet solutions. The fact that Nord drives can withstand temperatures as low as -30 °C is a particular advantage in deep-freeze applications.#
High-tech inverters for modern production
Fredriksons' chain conveyors for food packaging use Nord's IE3 asynchronous motors with a Nordbloc.1 bevel gearbox, combined with the Nordac-ON frequency inverter. The decentralized frequency converters offer an economical solution for modern production environments. They cover a power range from 0.37 kW to 3.7 kW and are characterized by their complete pluggability, plug-and-play functionality, low maintenance requirements and exceptional reliability. Other features include the PLC on board and the integrated Ethernet interface. The Profinet, EtherNet/IP and EtherCAT protocols can be easily set via parameters. In the area of functional safety, the Nordac ON will soon offer new functions in addition to STO and SS1: SLS, SMS and SSM.
For stand-alone solutions, Fredriksons uses the Nordac PRO SK 500P frequency inverter from Nord. The control cabinet inverter in booksize format is suitable for practically any drive task. Its variants cover a power range from 0.25 to 22 kW - it also impresses with its high overload capacity. The inverter will soon be available with a power extension up to and including 160 kW.
Solutions from the modular product system
Overall, the Swedish machine manufacturer has been able to reduce the number of drive variants in its systems by using Nord products. The lower use of materials and ideally matched drive components also reduce the TCO and carbon footprint.
