Brd. Klee A/S, a Danish company specializing in the distribution of electric motors and gearboxes, is part of the renowned Bonfiglioli Excellence Service Team and has been supporting industrial companies of various sizes and sectors with technical solutions for their needs since its foundation in 1944. The company is based in Albertslund in the greater Copenhagen area. In order to optimize logistics processes, the company has implemented an AMR solution from Omron together with Ølgod Elektro.

The aim of this project with Ølgod Elektro and Omron was to eliminate manual processes and make the daily handling of shipments more flexible. The company had initially considered forklift trucks, but recognized the need for a more flexible, safe and efficient solution. A key criterion for this solution was the replacement of manual trolleys with a mobile robotic solution. As a result, no other suppliers were considered apart from Omron.

Brd. Klee needed a partner who could ensure seamless integration between the system controller and the mobile robot. Together with Ølgod Elektro, a simple but powerful solution was implemented with an AMR from Omron.

Claus Andersen, team leader of the warehouse and logistics department at Brd. Klee, explains: "Our warehouse is quite large and we have many parts in our internal flow of goods that are only transported from point A to point B, a distance of around 80 meters. If you multiply that by 30 to 40 times a day, that's more than 6 kilometers. We wanted to automate this internal transportation process to save our colleagues valuable time and allow them to use this time for other tasks."

Autonomous mobile robot

The implemented solution uses the Omron LD250 mobile robot, which efficiently operates ten trolleys equipped with a Euro pallet. Brd. Klee employees fill these trolleys with goods and the LD250 transports them autonomously from the warehouse to the dispatch area. This straightforward solution has proven to be extremely helpful in streamlining order processing. Brd. Klee worked closely with Ølgod Elektro and Omron throughout the implementation process.

Omron not only supplied the mobile robot, but also acted as a sparring partner for the system integrator, while CesTek A/S, a leading Danish automation supplier, played an important role with its trolleys and add-on modules for the mobile robot. The integration of the system controller and Omron mobile robot, as well as the use of other Omron automation products such as Sysmac software and the NX102 machine automation controller, ensured a smooth and successful implementation.

Claus Andersen adds: "The new processes work very well, we save many working hours transporting the goods there and back, and we have taken full advantage of the AMR solution. We also have to transport heavy parts and we want to protect our employees and support them. So the mobile robot also contributes to a better and safer working environment. Our employees are very enthusiastic about this solution and it is very reliable."

The implementation of Omron's autonomous mobile robot solution has had a major impact on Brd Klee's operational efficiency. By minimizing manual effort and repetitive tasks, the company was able to significantly increase productivity and flexibility. The seamless integration between the system controller and the mobile robot proved to be a decisive advantage. This example impressively demonstrates how a simple solution can be implemented in smaller companies without major investment.
