Safety and security
Pilz puts together a solution package to safeguard AGVs
The automation expert Pilz now offers manufacturers a solution package comprising safety and security for safeguarding automated guided vehicles (AGVs).
With the complete solution comprising safe area monitoring for collision protection of humans and AGVs, safe evaluation units and tamper protection, Pilz offers safety and security for mobile applications from a single source - whether for track-bound or freely navigating AGVs.
The complete solution includes the safety laser scanner PSENscan (collision protection for people and AGVs), the modular safety relay myPNOZ or the configurable small controller PNOZmulti 2 (as evaluation units) and the industrial firewall SecurityBridge (tamper protection). Various command and signalling devices such as the evaluation unit of the operating mode selection and access authorization system PITmode fusion, PITreader, the emergency stop button PITestop and the muting lamps PITsign complete efficient monitoring for users.
Don't give manipulation a free ride
For the first time, the complete solution from Pilz also covers tamper protection for mobile applications. The included security solution via the SecurityBridge firewall protects driverless transport vehicles or systems against unauthorized access when communicating via radio. It reliably ensures that nobody can access the internal IT network of the mobile platform during operation without authorization. The AGV and its card data thus remain protected and productivity is guaranteed.
Secure scanner technology shows the way
The PSENscan safety laser scanner in the solution package enables the protection and productive area monitoring of mobile platforms. For track-bound AGVs, PSENscan detects objects along the route even at high speeds and adjusts warning and safety zones in a functionally safe manner. PSENscan offers up to 70 protective fields. These also enable dynamic protective field adaptation for freely navigating AGVs. The ROS packages (open-source robot operating system) of PSENscan provide the data for the dynamic navigation of AGVs. Users can use this for their own SLAM algorithm (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping).
Flexible mobile control
If additional safety functions, such as emergency stop, need to be covered on the AGV, users can utilize a flexible product solution consisting of PSENscan and the modular safety relay myPNOZ. If requirements change, myPNOZ can be expanded as required if the range of functions is extended in the future. This enables a high degree of flexibility in the design of mobile applications. With the configurable small controller PNOZmulti 2 with motion monitoring module, Pilz also offers an efficient and flexible solution for more complex protective field adaptations of freely navigating AGVs.
