At the end of September, the integrated company was officially renamed Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR) and long-time Teradyne manager Walter Vahey took the helm as President. The company remains headquartered in Odense, Denmark, from where MiR has managed its global operations since its founding in 2013.

MiR develops and markets collaborative mobile robots that can handle internal logistics and give employees more time for higher-value activities. Prior to the merger, MiR offered a wide range of AMRs carrying payloads and pallets up to 1,350 kg. With the merger with Autoguide, the portfolio now includes AMR high payload tugger trains and forklifts that can be operated with MiR Fleet software.

Walter Vahey was instrumental in the acquisition of MiR by Teradyne in 2018 and of Autoguide a year later. According to him, the global intralogistics market demands complete solutions that can automate the transportation of small and large goods along the entire value chain. "By joining forces, we as a provider can meet our customers' needs for simple automation of internal logistics, offering the same intuitive, user-friendly software and fleet management system," says Vahey.

The new merged company employs 450 people, including 250 engineers. MiR is already well established on the market with more than 7000 AMRs sold in over 60 countries. The AMRs can pick up, transport and deliver pallets or other loads automatically and safely, even in highly dynamic environments, making them a safe and efficient alternative to conventional automated guided vehicles (AGVs), forklift trucks and pallet trucks.

The now merged company MiR has a global distribution network with over 200 partners worldwide. In addition to its headquarters in Odense, Denmark, MiR has regional offices in Boston, Holbrook, New York, San Diego, Chelmsford, Massachusetts, Georgetown, Singapore, Frankfurt, Barcelona, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai.
