AGV dance to the beat
Customer requirements are constantly changing and the growing shortage of skilled workers poses a major challenge. To counteract this, industrial companies are increasingly looking for ways to make their intralogistics processes more flexible and efficient. Omron provides support with extended functions of its Fleet Operations Workspace (Flow) core software for the product portfolio of autonomous mobile robots (AMR).
For example, the Flow software now has a Selectable Autonomy function that allows the degree of autonomy to be set individually.
Omron's latest software enhancements offer companies added flexibility for their manufacturing and intralogistics operations, alongside improved fleet performance. For example, Omron's autonomous mobile robots can now mimic the behavior of automated guided vehicles (AGVs). Unlike floor-bound conveyors, however, the AMRs do not require magnetic belts or other guidance aids.
Miguel Garcés, European Mobile Robots Product Marketing Manager at Omron Europe, explains: "With the Selectable Autonomy feature, users can now independently set the autonomy level of each robot to improve fleet performance. For example, they can decide when they want to move the robot repeatedly along the same path. Complex material handling processes in particular can be controlled much more flexibly and movement sequences can be better coordinated."
In addition to autonomy determination, fleet analysis plays a central role for intralogistics applications. Omron's Fleet Operations Workspace iQ (Flow iQ) improves the user experience: users benefit from powerful data collection and analysis functions via an intuitive user interface. Flow iQ also offers visualization tools to create graphics quickly and easily. At the same time, Flow iQ helps to maximize the uptime and service life of applications.
