ABB opens new AMR center in Madrid
ABB Robotics has opened a new training and exhibition center for the company's AMR product line in Madrid, Spain. The center houses training facilities and exhibition space to educate customers, partners and employees about ABB's AMR technology.
"With their advanced capabilities enabled by AI and 3D vision technology, AMRs are revolutionizing logistics and manufacturing. They boost efficiency, increase flexibility and improve safety. As the demand for AMR continues to grow, more qualified specialists are also needed to program, operate and maintain them," emphasizes Marc Segura, Head of ABB Robotics. "This is exactly where ABB's AMR center comes in: In-depth training enables companies to qualify their employees to work with our AMRs and software."
AMR: 35 percent increase worldwide
AMRs are becoming increasingly important for the autonomous transport of loads and the optimization of work processes. According to the latest statistics from the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), around 113,000 units were sold worldwide in 2023 - an increase of 35% compared to 2022. Demand is being driven by sectors such as logistics, the automotive industry and the consumer goods industry. Technological advances and the development towards automated production lines are expected to drive growth further. Analysts forecast an average annual growth rate of 17.5% between 2023 and 20282.
The AMR Center's modern training and exhibition rooms are designed to enable companies to explore the potential of AMR and enable their employees to use, operate and maintain them in logistics and intralogistics applications.
