Knapp Coding Contest 2017 - Register now!
At the 6th Knapp Coding Contest on March 10, 2017, pupils and students will once again be tinkering with a programming task from the world of logistics and competing for attractive prize money and coveted internships.

Meet the challenge - this is the motto under which Knapp AG is hosting the 6th Coding Contest at its headquarters in Hart bei Graz. IT talents can show off their skills and put their knowledge to practical use in the programming competition. "Knapp specializes in warehouse automation and warehouse logistics and, with more than 600 employees in the software sector, is one of the largest IT employers in Styria. With this competition, we want to inspire pupils and students who are completing an IT apprenticeship for the varied tasks in logistics," explains Ingo Spörk, Head of HR at Knapp.
Every participant is a winner
Over the past five years, around 400 participants from several German states have taken on the challenge with the right amount of ambition. In last year's competition, the participants had the task of developing a software module to optimize the movement of goods, enabling rapid order processing and delivery to the customer. In the Coding Contest 2017, the solution can also be developed in the programming languages C# or Java on their own notebooks.
The competition not only offers attractive prize money, but is also a springboard into the company. "Knapp is one of the global players in intralogistics. Many participants take the opportunity to gain their first professional experience through internships or part-time jobs. We are also happy to provide support for project work and dissertations," says Spörk.
Award ceremony and chillout
The top three will receive prize money of 1,500, 1,250 and 1,000 euros. Participants from TU Graz and Vienna, HTLs Kaindorf and Pinkafeld and FH JOANNEUM Kapfenberg were delighted with the cheques and other prizes. Students from the HTL Villach and HTL Bulme Graz-Gösting were also among the top 10. The educational institution with the best participating pupils and students will also receive a non-cash prize.

After programming, the Coding Contest participants can fortify themselves at the Beer & Burger Bar and, following the award ceremony, talk shop with the Knapp software experts about the task or find out about career paths at Knapp. Anyone who wants to can gain an insight into how a modern logistics center is created and which technologies ensure that logistics processes run smoothly.
