materialfluss: In your opinion, how important is the topic of green logistics at present?

in the industry?

Markus Müllerschön: Sustainable management - conserving resources, responsible use of energy and raw materials - and the smallest possiblecarbon footprint are very important to many companies. They are explicitly asking for appropriate solutions to help them achieve their sustainability goals. Increased energy costs are playing their part.

materialfluss: To what extent is your company driving forward the topic of green logistics?

Müllerschön: At a technical level, topics such as energy-saving drives, standby modes, different operating states, energy recovery or DC link coupling have been commonplace for a long time. However, the most energy can be saved when it is not needed in the first place: short distances, avoiding empty runs and performing several tasks at the same time - if this makes sense - are examples of this. Other examples include intelligent and self-learning packaging material pre-calculation so that no air has to be shipped and transported. The prerequisites for this are forward-looking material flow planning, intelligent, dynamic material allocation based on actual requirements and software that takes over the efficient management of all processes.
