Glass panels - positioned with millimeter precision
The Polish glass manufacturer Q4Glass already carries its quality claim in its name - Quality for Glass. The young company also relies on quality from Germany when selecting the supplier for the cranes and hoists used in production. Overhead monorail systems and single-girder overhead traveling cranes from ABUS are used in the production hall in Koszalin, Poland.

Q4Glass is a manufacturer of particularly high quality glass panels. The company is based in Koszalin, in north-western Poland. One of the company's declared aims is to revolutionize the glass sector in architecture. The use of ABUS products in the production of Q4Glass is intended to help achieve this ambitious goal.
Glass façades are in Modern office buildings are the calling cards of companies and the trend in architecture towards glass façades ensures a continuous demand for high-quality materials in the construction sector. The glass elements used must satisfy both aesthetic requirements and comply with current building regulations. The required strength parameters are achieved in a complex manufacturing process that includes surface hardening, bonding and lamination of the glass elements. Series of tests also guarantee the material's safety in use. In combination with functional glass, excellent values are achieved in terms of solar control, thermal insulation and sound insulation.

With the construction of the 6,000 square meter production hall, the company, which was founded in 2010, has made an investment of over 7 million euros. The young company Q4Glass also pursues a quality policy when selecting its supplier for the cranes and hoists used in production. Q4Glass opted for ABUS Kransysteme - represented locally by the subsidiary ABUS Crane Systems Polska. It took on the entire service package - from advice and selection of the right crane solution, delivery, installation and commissioning to after-sales service. ABUS overhead monorail systems and ABUS single girder overhead traveling cranes are used in the production facility in Koszalin. The material flow in the warehouse is ensured by two ELK overhead travelling cranes with a span of 24.2 meters and a load capacity of two and eight tonnes. The ABUliner frequency inverter ensures safe transportation of the highly sensitive glass plates during all movements, i.e. crane travel, trolley travel and lifting. Here in the glass industry, the ABUliner demonstrates its full strength with millimeter-precise positioning as well as stepless and very sensitive movement. Thanks to preset acceleration and deceleration values, load oscillation can also be significantly minimized.

Overhead conveyor brings the glass to the cutting table
A total of nine overhead monorail systems (HB) with load capacities of between 500 and 630 kilograms and crane girder lengths of between 5.70 meters and 13 meters were installed in the glass cutting area. The cutting table for the glass is operated by an HB system with electric crane travel drive, while manually operated cranes are used for the machines for milling, grinding and edge processing. The EHB single girder cranes are characterized by their low dead weight and are particularly suitable for manual handling. An HB solution with a ZHB double-girder crane is used for higher load capacities. With the ZHB system, not only can higher load capacities be achieved, but also long crane girder lengths: in this project, a length of 13 meters. Some HB systems are equipped with a vacuum device typical of the glass industry, which ensures particularly safe lifting of the glass plates. As the customer's requirements for transport within production have grown over the years, so have the HB systems: the various systems were installed between 2011 and 2015 and demonstrate the special features of the HB system: great flexibility and customized solutions for extensions, modifications and conversions.
